Audiences may recognize this title from Rossini’s opera—or the Bugs Bunny cartoon that parodies it—but the story of the rascal Figaro was first a delightful comedy by French playwright Beaumarchais.
It tells the tale of Count Almaviva’s efforts to woo the lovely Rosine and to liberate her from her tyrannical guardian, Dr. Bartholo. Employing his wit and his access to the doctor’s house, the barber Figaro leads the charge against the greedy Bartholo. Will Figaro and the Count succeed in thwarting the watchful guardian and freeing his young ward?
This fast-moving 90-minute production plays without intermission. It is family-friendly.
