Sense and Sensibility
STEUBENVILLE, OH— The Franciscan University Theatre Department will present Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility to audiences this spring.
A highly celebrated play, Kate Hamill’s adaption of Austen’s beloved novel has been celebrated as inventive, faithful and hilarious, one of the best adaptations of this classic tale.
This playful adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel follows the fortunes and misfortunes of the Dashwood sisters who, following the death of their father, must negotiate gossipy 18th century society while trying to follow their hearts.
A delightful play of humor, emotion and theatricality, Sense and Sensibility examines our responses, both reasonable and ridiculous to societal pressure. It asks: when reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart?
Performances will be held April 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7pm, and April 11 and 18 at 2pm in Anathan Theatre, on the ground floor of Egan Hall.
Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for students and seniors. Admission is free for clergy, religious, and children under 12. Tickets may be reserved by calling 740-283-6245, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm, or bought at the door on a first come, first served basis.
